Welcome to ISTG

The Irish Surgical Training Group (ISTG) is the representative body for surgical trainees in Ireland and acts to:

• - Represent all Core and Higher surgical trainees
• - Remain independently run by trainees, for trainees
• - Advocate for surgical trainees with professional bodies such as RCSI, ISCP, JCST, NTDP
• - Promote the highest standards of surgical training
• - Foster cross specialty collaboration
• - Provide mentorship and leadership for surgical trainees

ISTG annual events include:

• - Careers day for aspiring surgeons including the aspiring surgeon research symposium each November
• - Annual trainee forum - ISTG session at Charter day in February
• - Silver Scalpel awards ceremony and dinner for the trainee' nominated best surgical trainer
